Matei Bogoescu

Matei Bogoescu is a Romanian architect and urban planner and a senior partner at Bucharest-based practice 4B – Architecture. He holds a master's degree in architecture from the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio and a postgraduate master's degree in urbanism from Delft University of Technology. His work spans a wide range of scales, from housing and public buildings to masterplans and urban regeneration projects. He has been involved in research and teaching at the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urban Planning (including its master's programme in urban design), served as a vice-president of the Romanian Order of Architects, and is a founding member of BAZA: Deschidem orașul, an organisation dedicated to urban research and culture. His projects include the 2011 proposal for University Square in Bucharest (third prize) and the proposals for the Cantacuzino Estate in Florești published in a 2018 study. His practice explores the relationship between architecture, memory and urban transformation, with particular attention to the existing fabric and public space.
