Monica Sache

Monica Despina Sache is a Romanian architect and the founder and lead architect of Bucharest-based TAG architecture. She holds a PhD in architecture (her thesis on contemporary urban regeneration was defended in 2020) and is the author of Între locul imaginar și locul trăit (Between the Imagined Place and the Lived Place). Her practice works across residential architecture, public buildings, interiors and landscape-led urban projects, with a particular interest in the relationship between built form, existing structures and local identity. Her completed and competition work includes the public garden Grădina dintre blocuri (The Garden between the Blocks) in Buzău, the Ostașilor 8 residential project and a proposal for the Lucian Blaga High School campus in Cluj-Napoca. Her approach combines restrained architectural forms with careful attention to materiality, adaptive reuse and the integration of buildings into their social and natural settings.
