Endless Light is a poetic exploration of light, combining form with functionality. Inspired by Constantin Brâncuși's Infinity Column, this modular lamp reinterprets a timeless aesthetic in a contemporary manner, this time using light and recycled plastic as materials. The structure is made up of modules that suggest continuity both formally and through the reuse of plastic that continues to exist in a form metamorphosed from the trivial into art. Endless Light has a versatile design, its modularity allowing for multiple configurations and easily adaptable to the space as a floor, desk or pendant lamp in different sizes.
Sustainability is at the heart of the Endless Light design. The lamp is 3D printed entirely from PET and disposable packaging from the medical industry. Using plastic bottles as the unit of measurement, 160 plastic bottles were recycled to make the 1.30m high lamp. The finished product weighs 2418 grams and is designed for easy placement and reconfiguration. The 3D printing process took between 60 and 74 hours, depending on the dimensions of the lamp. From the materials used to the production method, every aspect emphasises the importance of sustainable design. The design is optimised to minimise post-processing and waste production. The shape and surface are achieved by optimising the design and experimenting with the printing parameters. No adhesives, paints, metal joints or other materials are used, so each module is made from a single material that can be recycled. At the end of its lifecycle, the lamp can be completely recycled, symbolising the continuous potential for regeneration and transformation. The lamp thus created can have infinite dimensions and infinite lives.
The Endless Light lamps reflect the vision of the Project Para studio, where aesthetics, sustainability and functionality are combined. The exploratory approach to design involves a vocabulary of simple shapes, including circles, squares and triangles, which take on volume and intersect. This resonates with the clear geometry of the modernist movement. The stylistic aim of the Project Para studio is to transcend the limitations of seasonality, and trends and to work with simple, timeless design. The shapes used express balance and symmetry. Endless Light represents the link between past and future, between classical sculpture and new design possibilities.
