Authors’ Comment

This book is a collection of short essays on the topic of the role of urbanism and architecture in the management of natural and man-made disasters. Starting 2013 several events took place at the Center for Architectural and Urban Studies (CSAU) of the "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism on the topic of the impact of natural and man-made disasters on urban areas. These included guests from Portugal, in frame of the cooperation through European networks. From this point of view the book is a continuation of a former publication of CSAU regarding the impact of the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. The book is published in Romanian and English.
