There are two types of inheritances: material (tangible objects) and immaterial (which remain stored in our body and mind: images, sounds, smells, etc., and appear when triggered by various factors).
We are creating an installation that brings together inheritances from three individuals. The sound, performers’ movements, light (along with the technical elements present in the space—speakers, subwoofers, stands, microphones, etc.), objects, and characters are assembled into a composition that can be freely experienced and subjectively perceived by each viewer, based on their own decisions on how to use the space.
The installation includes a series of markers that give concreteness to the space it occupies (artworks, newspapers, etc.). It has an ephemeral nature, designed to be dismantled, movable, and itinerant.
"Original Spaces | Legalized Gestures" was installed in Bucharest at the /SAC @Malmaison Gallery, in Cluj, and on the stage of the “Baia Mare Municipal Theatre”.
The characteristics of the installation reflect the categories of things we are left with. The aesthetic of the performative space, which holds together tangible objects (the three works by artist Dimitrie Gora, the inherited objects of Ioana, and Simona's collection of newspapers inherited from her grandfather), will be as neutral as possible, in order to encourage viewers to relate their own experiences to the specific inheritances present in the installation.
In the middle, a segmented and reassembled folding screen, adapted according to the needs dictated by the general choreography. A screen perforated by the tandem (inter)action. An articulated wall on wheels, attracting newspapers, spoons, bags, binoculars, and a tooth.
Public access building components serve as support for a collection of ingredients of an intimacy built from “what has been preserved.” Until now.
