The proposal to install a pavilion in the Botanical Garden in Bucharest required finding a suitable location for the structure. The Botanical Garden, although large, lacks such places to enhance its attractiveness. Apart from a few kiosks where one can buy a drink, the entire park lacks architectural objects to serve these socializing activities.
The proposed pavilion was a response to certain requirements of the environment in which it was to be located. Therefore, in order to provide the proposed lightweight look, the use of a lightweight tensile structure was chosen to cover the gravel landscaped area. My desire was to create a structure that would not visually obstruct the view to and from the lake. A structure that "floats". Therefore, the main support is that of the central cylinder, while the sail takes the form of the stretching through the rectangular main beam. At the same time, this in turn is stabilized by anchoring to the ground with metal cables. I sought to create a pavilion whose shape and appearance suggest fragility, like the plants throughout the garden.
It's a perfect place to enjoy a coffee in one of Bucharest's beautiful parks, which deserves more exposure through the increased attractiveness of the public space. The petal-like shape of the roof integrates the whole structure into the natural landscape, without offending the viewer with its possible massiveness. The softness is composed in harmony with the fragility of nature.
