PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Small cabinet on stand
INSPIRATION:
This piece challenges the boundaries of furniture design, blurring the line between furniture and a fashion accessory.
The initial impression is one of discomfort, which is quite unusual for furniture. It boasts an aggressive external texture, suggesting that it might be difficult or even impractical to use or wear. This characteristic challenges the conventional comfort and utility typically associated.
However, as adaptation occurs, the piece subtly transforms. Eroded areas emerge, revealing the natural wood texture that lies beneath the initially surly surface layer, becoming more comfortable with time. It’s as if it evolves in response to human interaction.
The interior of the piece offers a striking contrast to its tough exterior. Inside, there's a sense of luxury and protection. Precious textile material is used to safeguard items of profound significance. This interior experience contrasts sharply with the discomfort conveyed by the exterior. It’s almost as if this piece has a dual personality, with its exterior presenting a challenging and rough facade while its interior offers a sanctuary of softness, comfort, and preciousness.
This duality between the harsh exterior and the soothing interior encourages viewers or users to reflect on several themes. It prompts contemplation of the balance between discomfort and solace, as well as the concept of resistance and transformation. The piece becomes a symbol of adaptability and the potential that comes once we endure.
