Authors’ Comment
The volume “Aldo Rossi – A Critical Inquiry / «Call Me Aldo.»”, authored by Alexandru Cristian Beșliu, is published following the defense of his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professor Dr. Architect Ana Maria Zahariade, as part of the CULTADISER 2024 project.
The research behind this volume analyzes the life and work of one of the most prolific architects of the 20th century, the Italian architect Aldo Rossi, attempting to decode the impressive collection of elements that form the framework of a complex personality – the complete Rossian project. The author discusses the diffuse shaping of “two Aldo Rossis” and the tension generated by their overlapping or, conversely, their dissociation throughout the architect’s professional and personal life. On one hand, the professional project and its objective dimension – architectural theory and practice – are examined; on the other hand, the so-called psychological project, the subjective dimension – memories and personal thoughts, affective objects, journals, letters, etc.
