This apartment brings to the forefront a contemporary interpretation of the Japandi style, where the essence of Japanese design and the rigor of Scandinavian functionalism converge into a coherent, elegant, and timeless language. Located on the second floor of the One Lake District complex, the apartment enjoys serene views of the nearby lake, Plumbuita Monastery, and the lush green tree canopy.

The project was designed for a young couple with a flexible lifestyle that blends work and personal time in a fluid, adaptable environment. From the early concept phase, the focus was on a clear spatial organization that would enable a natural connection between the living, working, and relaxation areas, without compromising aesthetic coherence.

The design emphasizes natural light and the relationship with the exterior landscape, creating a calm, well-balanced backdrop where natural materials, clean lines, and expressive textures generate a sensory depth and a harmonious atmosphere.

The living area is conceived as a generous open space, where the open kitchen connects directly to the dining area. Symbolically anchored by a Japanese bonsai—a natural and sculptural element—it becomes the compositional center that links the dining space to the living room. The double-sided sofa, with a panoramic orientation, allows for a fluid reading of the entire space and supports a coherent visual flow.

The office, separated by a glass screen, is strategically integrated to maintain a dual connection—towards the lake and the living area. This workspace acts as a subtle transitional zone between focus and openness, supported by carefully controlled transparency.

Materials play a key role in defining the identity of the space: limewash plaster on the walls and ceiling offers a rich, tactile texture, contrasting with the coral-toned textiles of the soft furniture and the custom pieces in natural oak. The ensemble is completed by sculptural lighting fixtures and carefully selected design pieces that add character and build a coherent, discreetly sophisticated narrative.

The project proposes a thoughtful and mature architectural approach, where creativity is filtered through precision, and aesthetics are placed in the service of authentic, balanced, and mindful living.
