A Manifesto of Sensory Balance in Contemporary Interior Design

This project presents a bold reinterpretation of interior space as a scenography of tactile and visual refinement, where sculptural forms, noble materials, and light become narrative elements. The design explores a balance between the massive and the fluid, within an atmosphere that evokes both intimacy and strength.
The concept started from the idea of a space intended for both contemplation and interaction, where every element, from the custom solid wood furniture to the suspended luminous volumes, contributes to a coherent dialogue between functionality and artistry. The composition is defined by clean geometries, soft lines, and a layering of visual planes that bring depth and complexity.
An abstracted vegetal wallpaper background adds a dreamlike dimension, while matte black and gold accents provide visual anchoring and density.
This project is not just about aesthetics, but about a complete sensory experience—blending comfort with expressiveness, and speaking to an understated elegance and the courage to create spaces where time seems to flow differently.
Although the furniture pieces may initially appear abstract, the entire apartment has been carefully studied, and each object was custom-designed specifically for this space. The dining table is a key example of this integrated approach between architecture and object design.
More than a simple piece of furniture, the table is a versatile zone that responds to the everyday needs of urban living. It offers three possible configurations:
- a full extension, suitable for family gatherings or hosting multiple guests,
- a standard extension, designed for daily use,
- a lateral extension, transforming the table into a desk with a panoramic view—an intuitive choice considering the apartment is located on the 9th floor, where the view becomes a valuable part of the living experience.
The materials chosen reflect the same discreet elegance as the rest of the space: the legs are made of curved MDF with a metallic gold finish, the tabletop is crafted from veneered solid wood, and the joining details are made from brass, adding warm and refined accents.
Thus, this piece becomes not only functional but also sculptural, designed in direct dialogue with light, perspective, and the fluid dynamics of contemporary living.
Additionally, the clients desired an interior that could reflect three distinct moods—a masculine one, a feminine and intriguing one, and a neutral, balanced version. Instead of fragmenting the space with redundant furniture or superficial decor, I chose a more efficient and expressive solution: reinterpreting the overall atmosphere through decorative plaster finishes. The result is three coherent scenarios, each with its own chromatic and emotional identity:
- a vibrant green, fresh, bold, and energetic,
- a charming orange, full of warmth and personality,
- a pastel cream, calm, warm, and luminous—a neutral yet sophisticated base.
This approach allows for a meaningful transformation of the space through a controlled yet impactful gesture, while preserving the integrity and coherence of the design.
