Senior Wellness Center | Living with nature

The project for health center in Mehedinți county has the objective to create a new multifunctional space for elderly persons and for the people visiting them. The main advantages are the community spirit, the beauty of the landscape, the quality of the medical services and the treatments.
The site is situated in the middle of Mehedinți mountain. There are three existing buildings, built over 100 years ago. It was used as hospital, but it is abandoned over 30 years. The existing buildings will be consolidated, reconverted, and extended to go further its legacy.
The guests will benefit from the interior and exterior spaces for socializing, a central piazza, a restaurant, a small church, a common living and spaces for hobbies in each building.
The extended project will contain an apart hotel for 20 persons, a restaurant for 100 persons, 5 new buildings for housing for 80 persons and greenhouses for gardening and hobbies, a medical center. There are three typologies for the rooms to accommodate different types of people.
The proposed materials are also locals like wood and stone, and big windows to create the feeling of being closer to the nature.
The sustainability of the project is defined by offering safety environment, comfort, natural light by orienting east-west the main buildings, heating using photovoltaic panels and heating pumps, collecting the rainwater, using the local microclimate by offering large green spaces for promenades.

Also, the persons living in the area can work in this center and can provide local fresh food

In the feasibility study, two scenarios were developed to analyze the best option also from sustainability form the economic point of view.
