GOmed is a pharmacy that stands out through a different approach, opposing the trend of transforming pharmacies into supermarkets. The pharmacy aims to focus on personalized services and fostering a closer connection with its customers, which is why their first space was designed to reflect these goals.
The challenge was to reconvert an existing pharmacy from an outdated, non-functional space into an open and organized environment, with a focus on functionality and subtle aesthetics. The interventions were kept to the bare essentials, with a minimalist approach in both material use and color palette, striking a balance between traditional elements and contemporary demands.
The reconfiguration of the pharmacy included a spacious counter for customer interaction, ample storage areas, and a special section dedicated to their own product line. The biggest challenge was the functional reconfiguration of the spaces, fitting them within the minimum surface area required by pharmaceutical regulations, while also discreetly integrating an existing and unsightly mezzanine that could not be modified.
The oak-veneered furniture evokes the atmosphere of traditional old pharmacies, without creating a sense of heaviness. The drawer area is a tribute to the pharmacies of the past, where substances were stored in compartmentalized drawers. The furniture consists of individual modules, recessed into the wall, designed to meet various display needs while creating a sense of lightness. It is designed to be flexible, with adjustable shelves to accommodate a variety of storage needs.
At the center of the space is a multifunctional island that organizes the circulation flow. It serves both as a product display area and as a seat.
The furniture dedicated to the store’s own product line has a geometric design with clean, simple lines. The upper section consists of a grid of square shelves, with some of these squares featuring arched openings that add dynamism and reference the pharmacy's entrance, which is accessed through an arcade-lined portico. The backlighting gives the shelves an airy feel, with the intention of highlighting the products on display.
