Cronos Med Mamaia

Authors’ Comment

The premise behind the design of the new Cronosmed clinic in Mamaia (seaside resort town) was to create a space where the balance between forms, axial precision, and the relationship between proportions and symmetry is felt as an integrated gesture in the design.

The contemporary approach consisted of a mix of organic, natural shapes, stylized with futuristic accents, representing the design direction as key elements that are part of the Cronosmed brand's identity and its way of operating – through modernity and innovation – Timeless Beauty.

The materials used play a crucial role in highlighting the balance between matte and glossy/rough and finished textures, while also emphasizing a sense of safety through their antiseptic properties. These materials allow for frequent cleaning while maintaining their original properties and appearance (porcelain tiles, antibacterial washable paint, composite countertops with antibacterial properties). The optimal functionality and durability of each design element contribute to the efficiency and long-term maintenance of the space.

Innovation is showcased through the use of curved MDF and composite materials, achieved with mold-based techniques, indirect lighting created through concealed LED profiles in coves, and the central ceiling feature in the waiting and reception areas. The concept is expressed through timeless materials or those created using new processing technologies, contributing to the overall atmosphere, especially in communal spaces, and transforming the ideal of utopian beauty into something real and tangible.

The underlying message of the interior design is to enhance accessibility for a wider range of users, whether by being located closer to their homes or offering a more diverse range of services, available even seasonally. This reduces emissions from potential inter-county travel to access the renowned clinic's aesthetic services and procedures. Other smart integrated solutions were also used, such as energy-efficient systems, like a BMS system for lights, sound, and climate control integrated into the same platform.

Overall, the ambiance is pleasant, achieved through the harmony of ideal proportions, felt in how the spatiality is shaped—from lightweight partition walls to the masking and integration of structural elements. The furniture was designed in an integrated manner, as sculptural pieces that blend seamlessly with other design elements.
