Theatre and Arts' Centre, Alba Carolina

Authors’ Comment

The project proposes a new cultural hub occupying one of the 7 bastions of the Alba Carolina citadel. The proposal will offer a proper theatre hall to the area and will create an arts' hub opened to a big range of users. Being inserted in a meaningful context and near the main entrance in the Citadel, the building hides in the mass of the bastion thus creating a sunken plaza that acts as a 4th stage, connecting the existing public space with the newly created one. Functionally, the building offers 3 halls: a flexible main one, a rehearsal, a conference hall(that will help the neighboring university) and an arts’ center in which local artists could create, exhibit and spread their know-how.
