Project aims to bring into the light the story of the Pitesti penitentiary, told in a non traumatic manner but one that remembers the horrible truth.
At a functional level the project is broken into several elements that generate the context for the story of the detainees while it tries to honor their memory.
The journey starts on a path that isolates the visitor from the city presence. The last place to visit, the torture chamber opens to an unexpected intervention, almost brutal, the entrance into the memorial.
Built around the four pillars of torture inside the Pitesti prison: unmasking, betrayal, the fall and the halving, the memorial mirrors at a symbolic level, the spiritual falling and the dehumanizing experience of a prisoner.
The visitor concludes his journey back to the present times by following a long slope that allows for forgiveness and contemplation.
