Gériane begins with the idea that a piece of furniture can contribute to the identity of a space through its form, material, and use. The collection explores this relationship through sculptural metal pieces, in which function, structure, and proportion are conceived together. Each object becomes a small architectural intervention, capable of defining a place and entering into dialogue with its surroundings.

The piece presented translates this approach into a dual-purpose object that can be used as both a seat and a table. Its construction is reduced to a few essential elements: an arched base, two cylindrical connecting elements, and a curved upper metal surface. Their relationship creates a clear composition, in which the structure remains visible and contributes to the expression of the form. The curves of the base and upper surface create visual continuity, establishing a balance between solid and void, weight and openness.

Brushed stainless steel is explored both for its strength and for the way it catches the light. Subtle reflections bring variation to the surfaces and visually connect the object to its surroundings. Depending on the light and viewing angle, the metal changes its expression, revealing the contours, the texture of the finish, and the depth of the curves.

The removable cushion, upholstered in natural cowhide, introduces a tactile dimension and a contrast between materials. The softness of the upholstery and the organic pattern of the hide complement the precise geometry of the metal structure. Natural variations in the hide give each piece a distinctive character, maintaining a relationship between the controlled form and the individuality of the material.

The dual function is integrated into the object’s construction. With the cushion placed on the upper surface, the piece serves as a seat; when the cushion is removed, it becomes a table. The transition between these uses preserves the object’s form and identity, allowing flexibility in its placement and its relationship with other
