Alma is built around the idea of an ethereal presence, almost impossible to define. A spirit of the place that never fully reveals itself, yet leaves traces behind. The sculptural mask suggests its face, while the suspended light installation attempts to capture the very substance from which it is made.

The project began with the question of how an immaterial presence could be made visible. How can light acquire substance, and how can an object appear mysterious? The light installation gradually took shape through the layering of concentric elements that unfold like waves suspended in the air, as though an invisible energy had disturbed the stillness of the ceiling and remained frozen in a moment of expansion.

Its form does not pursue precise geometry, but rather a living one. The contours subtly expand and contract, avoiding regularity. Viewed from below, the object appears to float somewhere between material and light, like an ephemeral apparition whose expression constantly shifts according to the viewer’s position and the intensity of the light.

A translucent textile membrane stretched over a delicate metal structure was chosen for its construction. The material was selected for its ability to transform light into a gentle presence, without visible sources and without clearly defined boundaries between object and atmosphere. During the day, the fine texture of the textile subtly reveals the structure beneath. In the evening, light filters through the layers and dissolves the contours, making the object appear less like a suspended structure and more like light that has taken on form.

The execution process was distinctly artisanal. Each metal frame was individually designed and shaped, while each textile surface was manually adjusted to preserve the fluidity of the composition. The intention was not to achieve a spectacular form, but to create a sense of controlled fragility, a piece that feels light and effortless despite the complexity of its construction.

The light is distributed across successive layers. The central core functions like an originating source, while concealed lighting woven between the membranes creates a diffuse glow that seems to emanate from within the object itself. Brass arms traverse the composition like lines drawn through the air, completing the atmosphere with subtle points of light.

In dialogue with the mask, the mirrors, and the warm materiality of the interior, the installation functions not simply as a lighting fixture, but as a presence. As a luminous trace of the spirit that inhabits Alma. A form suspended between the visible and the invisible, between object and atmosphere, between architecture and dream.
