Frudisiac Brod is a place built around two simple experiences: food and music. The lighting installation grows out of this identity, turning the communal table into the centre of the space.
The arrangement of the lights follows the logic of a musical staff. Suspended above the main table, the lamps form a composition in which each element has its own rhythm, while together they make up a single piece. The light does more than mark a place where people eat; it accompanies gathering, conversation and time spent together.
The material used for the installation comes directly from the everyday life of the restaurant. 120 egg cartons discarded by the kitchen were collected and transformed, using papier-mâché, into handmade light fixtures. A material intended for a single cycle of use is thus given a new existence, while retaining the memory of the place it came from.
The making process becomes part of the project. Each lamp is shaped individually, and the differences between them are not concealed but embraced as an expression of the handmade process. Together, they form a coherent whole in which variation and imperfection contribute to the character of the installation.
More than a source of light, the project proposes a transformation: from an apparently worthless material into an object that accompanies one of the most natural gestures of community — gathering together around a table.
