Diploma Festival - Universities
Red, Part Three: Autumn 2025
The central exhibition of the Diploma Festival took place at Gabroveni, within the ARCUB center in the Old Town. The theme was as simple as could be: (red) benches. I worked alongside Cristi Matei and Alexandra Müller. This time, there was no set route—just points marked on a map. Much like Pristanda’s flags in *A Lost Letter*: three on Expoziției Boulevard, two at the University campus in Panduri, one at UNArte, one at Mincu, and one at Gabroveni. We set the permutation process in motion to generate options. The results included double armchairs, single armchairs, benches, tractor-like forms, and standing totems. Two double benches and a sofa on wheels ended up on Expoziției Boulevard, at the entrance to a well-known office building. Two armchairs went to the University of Bucharest, a double armchair to the Mincu portico, another to UNArte, and a double armchair featuring a display totem was placed at Gabroveni, right in front of the entrance to the ARCUB passageway. Each piece was unique, yet all were derivatives of the same frame-rotation system we had initiated five years earlier. This selection comes from a series we aim to continue and eventually install on the street during a future edition.
