ENAMEL STAMP

1. Didactic journey disused industrial facilities. Between two ships with a structure made of prefabricated reinforced concrete, a white pile. Like the topographies at intersections that appear after the road is cleared of snow. Except it was the summer of 2024 and 37 degrees in the shade. A shapeless, oversized “outpost”, built not “with a shovel” but with a forklift. Mini-iceberg between production halls in the process of deconstruction. Composed not of frozen chips but of broken glazed porcelain. Glaze reflections in the sun without danger of melting. From afar, ice floe, from up close, a mixture of broken and intact objects.
Plaster over pile of insulating passage for electrical installations. Possible barrels, shells, balustrades, ornamental covers, fountains of all kinds. Tubes, many tubes.
A speaker can be attached to a tube. Sound sleeve. Different diameters, different speakers. Same shade of white with different shades of sound.
2. Experiments at U.A.U.I.M. Ceramics laboratories and temporary “brick” constructions for the 2018 Quinet Workshops. Glazing of “faience” tiles. In play, nine blocks for chimneys were glazed and put in the oven at UNArte. Tests with glazed brick for exhaust pipes.
If it’s a tube, you can mount a speaker. If it’s glazed, it looks like porcelain. Colored.
3. Visit to a production hall for liquid storage tanks. Pipes, production waste. In a corner, tests with welded parts, flanges, elbows with variations in radii and diameters. Curved tubes. Large. If it’s a tube, you can mount a speaker. If it has curves, even better for playing with sound. Variations in diameter. Noise tones. In yellow and green enamel.
4. Pipes from “F” and fittings from the Vellant stand in 2022. Cutting and mechanical assembly of 27mm diameter steel parts. Frames from cast iron nodes and steel tubes for porcelains to the tube.
5. Recovery of bulbs and sockets from the (RE)ST tests. E14 and E27. Nipples and nuts for threaded pipes extracted from experimental lamps. Bulbs later mounted in porcelain sleeves and transformed into a lighting system for the sound system. Tube lights for sound tubes.
6. A block for the passage of chimneys. Seen from the side, the object looks like an oversized ribbed brick. In plan, the ribs become “serrated”. Like a stamp. Extruded. Made of ceramic. With enamel.

7. LIVE SET. They put the sound installation to the test:
