The topic of this project is the integration of an urban element in a deconstructed neighborhood-type context in the central area of Bucharest. This approach takes into account the existing buildings and proposes a new intervention that will generate dynamism and enhance the identity of the space.
Starting from the idea that the creative industries "are located close to the concentrations of artistic locations and specialized institutions", it goes without saying that these tools serve as a way of accessibility to consumers. The idea that cultural spaces are the ones that attract creative communities comes in support of inspiration and cultural diversity. The agglomeration of these areas leads further to the reconstruction of urban society, in which groups of individuals can afford an environment of coexistence and jobs, as well as the possibility of cultural expression and experimentation of new industries based on local and regional traditions. The concept of the project aimed at the need for urban revitalization by introducing a program that would capitalize the participation of urban actors. This outlines the educational component through music and dance, offering the possibility of artistic training for beginners, but also professional, as well as deepening skills acquired by pupils and students. The proposed center leads to an interdependence between cultural consumption by supporting events and also its generation as a form of product.
The presence of the neighboring building – Solacolu Inn, recently proposed for restoration and conversion into a cultural center, is the point of interest of the project. The intervention itself, namely the Educational Center for Music and Choreography, supports the current proposal to revitalize the inn, by forming a complex center for promoting the cultural environment. While the conversion of the neighboring site includes in its planimetry small rooms that could rather allow the possibility of exposure and visualization, as to transmission and cultural consumption to the user, the program defined in the diploma project aims at opportunities for creation and production through the educational dimension. The main purpose of this program is professional training, by providing the tools necessary for development, from spaces dedicated to study to deepening existing skills, as well as spaces for production and support of the final element.
