Authors’ Comment

Point Art Hub continued the initiative started last year to activate Point’s basement space for art exhibitions. Thus, two more exhibitions curated by Medina Pop took place here this year: THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA (16.05-18.06.2026) and I NEVER PROMISED YOU A ROSE GARDEN (23.07-30.08.2026). Although hosted in the same space and reusing certain shared elements, the resulting atmospheres were remarkably different.

THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA plunged us into a dark room wrapped in black, with radioactive green lighting set along the lower section of the black perimeter walls. The exhibited works appeared to float against this black backdrop, each highlighted by a pinpoint of light. In I NEVER PROMISED YOU A ROSE GARDEN, that same space took on a completely different character—the dark room transformed into a milky white chamber, the perimeter walls became an enveloping ribbon, and the overall atmosphere evoked femininity, delicacy, and motherhood. All the works in this exhibition were created by female artists, a detail subtly and continuously brought to the visitor’s attention.
The fleeting, radically different expressions that a single space can assume through scenographic design evoke the endless visual possibilities offered by AI-generated imagery. Yet, the coherent experience of navigating an exhibition like those at Point stems precisely from the synergy between spatial design and curatorial concept - a connection forged by curator Medina Pop, the participating artists, the visitors, and the Point team.
