Authors’ Comment

he interior design of Mercure Cantemir proposes a contemporary interpretation of the Neo-Memphis aesthetic, adapted to Bucharest’s urban context. The concept builds a strong identity through colour, geometry and materiality, approached as tools for articulating and differentiating the spaces.
The intervention is defined by chromatic and compositional contrasts, from Klein blue ceilings and surfaces of wood and painted metal to expressive textiles that introduce texture, depth and rhythm. Geometries and layered materials generate a sequence of spaces with distinct identities, while maintaining a coherent design language throughout the hotel.
The common areas and guest rooms are conceived as part of the same narrative, where functional elements are integrated into the overall composition and colour moves beyond a decorative role to become an element that actively defines the space.
The result is an interior with a distinctive visual identity, shaped by the relationship between geometry, colour, texture and detail, translating Bucharest’s urban energy into a contemporary design language.
