The Bucharest Business Park office buildings were built in 2006 by Portland Trust, with architects Chapman Taylor, Adest Architecture and Alpha Studio, and are one of the emblematic office buildings of Bucharest, being the first authentic business park. They are located in the northern area of Bucharest, in the most dynamic office district, near the protected urban area of King Michael I Park (Herăstrău).
The history of the place where the buildings were built, showed that on the same site existed a sericulture (the process of raising silkworms to produce silk) school used to exist in the past, alongside the vibrant space of the hippodrome and the park, the design introduced natural elements and plants into the buildings.
With minimal interventions, the walls were covered with striated plates that change their shape, creating a kinetic optical effect: the walls further from the light seem closer, the space seems more controlled.
The existing furniture was reused (the armchairs were reupholstered, the reception was simplified) because the intervention wanted to be minimal and ecological. Different plants are arranged on each level and outdoor plants complete the space.
