Alma is a compact yet soulful café, covering just 35 square meters, designed to host intimate brunches and vibrant daytime gatherings. Despite its small footprint, the space was carefully composed to feel open, fluid, and immersive. Every line and element has a clear function and contributes to the overall atmosphere without overwhelming it.

The centerpiece of the café, immediately visible from the street, is a mysterious sculptural mask that watches over the room. This symbolic presence represents the soul of the place, serving as a guardian spirit and giving the café its name: Alma. The mask is not merely a decorative object, but a narrative device that invites curiosity and offers a sense of quiet protection.

The chromatic palette is inspired by warm, earthy tones, complemented by theatrical lighting that adds subtle depth and atmosphere. Suspended from the ceiling, a delicate floral-shaped installation unfolds above the guests, its fluid lines echoing natural forms and diffusing a soft, ambient light.

The flooring, composed of two contrasting tones, helps define circulation paths and subtly guides movement through the interior. The design balances spatial clarity with a rhythmic visual language.

On one side of the room, a continuous, sculptural bar counter draws the eye and anchors the space. It offers guests a clear view of the preparation rituals, each drink becoming a moment of performance and interaction.

Large mirrors, set within tall arched niches, visually expand the space and reflect light in nuanced ways. Their aged, patinated surfaces not only evoke the historic layers of the building, but also blur spatial boundaries, enhancing the sense of depth and mystery.

Through the interplay of warm light, tactile materials, and controlled acoustics, Alma becomes more than a café, it offers an immersive, multisensory environment. A small haven of quiet poetry, tucked into the vibrant rhythm of Bucharest.
