Emergency center: Reintegration of the railway site C.F.R. Suceava in the contemporary circuit

Authors’ Comment

The project aims to revitalize the area, both socially and historically. The proposed site is a strong resource for the development of the city, belonging to the industrial heritage. The ensemble wants to raise the quality of housing in the area, to support the majestic character of the Burdujeni train station, but also to solve a social problem of the city, namely a shelter for the homeless people.
The concept was inspired by the movement of trains and the entire circuit of wagons. Thus, a series of wagons have been created on the proposed site, which will remain static on the platform and which are designed exclusively for people in need. A single module has been chosen that will be multiplied and approached differently, depending on the function in it. The design of the public space supports this idea, so the ensemble is connected by vegetal or built “train tracks” that offer dynamism to the platform and create pedestrian routes or private areas.
