House for my niece - A study that stands for alternative possibilities in naïve design. A gift from a grandparent for his son’s family but specially addressed to his 11-year-old niece. An exploration and a questioning, a small volatile house.
The design has to respond to adjusting a single-family house requirements on a small scale object, making use of the south-oriented garden, and of the existing plot in order to benefit from sunlight.
Being a small footprint house, the ground floor plan revolves around the stair and absorbs light from all around but having the main orientation towards and existing green strip and the south facing courtyard.
The first floor is composed of the master bedroom and a guest bedroom (for the grandparents), while the attic is entirely reserved for the client’s niece – the main space of the house.
An exploration and an attempt to minimally redefine the architectural décor within contemporary architecture, a small and volatile house.
