The diploma project proposes the creation of an Interactive Music Center in the Kretzulescu Building, located on Calea Victoriei. The concept was inspired by the author's passion for music and the way it creates connections between people. Music has the power to convey a wide range of emotions, from joy to melancholy, through a simple succession of notes. Additionally, for people with visual impairments, music becomes an essential element of perception, which is why the proposed space is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all.
The building's central location, near important cultural landmarks such as the National University of Music, the Romanian Athenaeum, and the Palace Hall, emphasizes the musical character of the area. These institutions attract a community strongly interested in music, and Calea Victoriei frequently hosts musical events. The project aims to amplify this cultural context by integrating music-dedicated spaces within the building, offering opportunities for active interaction with this form of art.
The proposed functions of the center include:
1. Artist Platform: A space for artists, students, and music enthusiasts to professionally record music, hold public concerts, and film music videos. This will allow both established artists and those at the beginning of their careers to express their creativity in a suitable environment.
2. Interactive Music Museum: A museum offering an educational and interactive experience, focused on the history of music and instruments. Visitors will be able to explore various musical genres, from classical to blues and electronic, through an exhibition route spread across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, designed to stimulate curiosity and active participation.
3. Live Events and Open Mic Sessions: A series of interactive events, including live performances and open mic sessions, where the public can actively participate and be encouraged to explore their own relationship with music.
The project aims to develop a community around music, with the goal of creating a balance between the public's needs and those of the artists. The building thus becomes a vehicle for the promotion and exploration of music, inviting the discovery of new forms of artistic interaction.
In addition to the functional aspects, the project also emphasizes sustainability. From a design perspective, the use of recycled and renewable materials, as well as energy-efficient LED lighting, is proposed. This transformation of the Kretzulescu Building into an interactive and sustainable music center reflects a commitment to the community, art, and environmental protection.
Thus, the center will not only provide a space for artistic expression but will also serve as an example of responsible and innovative architecture. It will become a landmark in the urban landscape of Bucharest, encouraging interaction between people through music and offering a sustainable environment that responds to contemporary challenges.
