Vocational School in Brasov

Authors’ Comment

The project is being carried out in Brașov, on the site of a former jersey factory located in the Brașov Vechi district. The concept is based on the reuse of salvageable parts of the former factory and their integration into the development of a Vocational School that will complement the educational character of the area. The new bodies proposed on the site draw inspiration from the organization of the fortifications of the city of Brașov. In the old days, the city was called the "City of the 7 Bastions" and the bastions were administered and used by the craftsmen's guilds in the city. In the spirit of this fragment of local history, the concept organizes the vocational school profiles in different bodies, connected by hard boundaries and soft boundaries. Thus, the inner courtyards and the relationship with the public make the activity in the school related to the public domain and connected to the local community.
