In an era where office solutions tend toward sterile uniformity dictated by pure efficiency, interior architecture proves its strength through the ability to generate empathy and trust. The design of this law office, located in a historical building in the center of Târgu Mureș, is an exercise in mediation between the weight of heritage and the dynamics of the contemporary legal profession. The concept proposes a modern design, deeply anchored in classical references, intended to provide a calm, comfortable, and imposing work environment.
The spatial transition is marked by a deliberate tactile contrast. The reception area, hallway, and bathroom are defined by the use of natural marble, a material that commands respect and solidity. This mineral core is warmed by a reception desk clad in wood slats and opens fluidly into the workspaces, where the flooring shifts to a solid wood chevron parquet.
To honor the building's history, the walls were enriched with subtle decorative moldings, reinterpreting classical boiserie. A crucial decision was painting them in a desaturated olive green, a shade that absorbs the tension typical of a legal environment. This matte, temperate background acts as a perfect passe-partout to highlight the carefully reconditioned original white joinery, turning the historical doors and windows into true statement pieces.
In the workspaces, the tactility of materials plays the leading role. Large walnut desks bring necessary warmth, while chairs upholstered in forest green velvet and subtle gold accents add a layer of discreet refinement. The pragmatic need for archiving—essential in a law firm—was solved through massive, floor-to-ceiling storage volumes finished in neutral greige tones, which blend into the architecture and maintain visual order.
The lighting was carefully orchestrated in multiple layers, emphasizing the human presence in the space. Simple, circular suspended fixtures and LED gold accents provide harmonious ambient light, while a perimeter of surface-mounted spotlights guarantees the rigor and clarity required for intensive document study. The result is an office that not only impresses visually but psychologically supports the user, proving that architectural detail and human understanding transcend any technological standardization.
