The project involves the interior design of a single-family home located in the western outskirts of Bucharest, within a recently developed residential complex near the Dudu Forest. The clients — a young family with two children — sought a warm, functional, and aesthetically balanced environment tailored to their everyday needs. The design approach is based on principles of ergonomics, functional clarity and contemporary expression, using a neutral color palette and natural textures to create a harmonious atmosphere.
On the ground floor, the living spaces are organized within a coherent open-plan layout that brings together the home's primary daytime functions. The living room and dining area share a spacious, light-filled zone oriented toward the garden, offering generous natural illumination. A glass partition provides a visual connection to the kitchen, maintaining spatial continuity while allowing for separation when required. The area beneath the staircase has been efficiently utilized with integrated, minimalist storage furniture in a neutral tone, visually harmonizing with the overall interior scheme.
The upper floor accommodates the night zone, designed with careful attention to detail, functionality, and aesthetic expression, aligned with the needs of each family member. The children's bedrooms were personalized according to their daily activities and interests, incorporating study areas, accessible storage, and bookshelves. The daughter’s room stands out through an artistic and bohemian ambiance, featuring soft textures, delicate lines, and pastel accents that stimulate creativity. In contrast, the son’s room offers a dynamic and playful arrangement, with graphic elements, modular furniture, and a neutral color palette enhanced by subtle accents meant to support his passions and imagination. The master bedroom was conceived as an intimate and calming retreat for the two adults, emphasizing a coherent, warm, and relaxing atmosphere in line with the overall interior concept.
The attic was designed as a multifunctional space that complements the daytime areas, tailored to the needs of an active family. Its layout incorporates a double home office for the adults’ remote work, alongside zones dedicated to recreational activities such as cinema, reading, or artistic creation. Clear spatial compartmentalization ensures efficient organization, including a generous storage area and a fully equipped bathroom with integrated laundry facilities. Aesthetically, the stylistic coherence of the home is maintained through a neutral color palette and natural finishes, contributing to an airy, cohesive, and adaptable environment.
Through a unified and balanced approach, the interior design successfully shapes a contemporary domestic space that is warm and coherent, seamlessly integrating the needs of a modern family. It supports both the dynamic rhythm of daily life and the essential need for comfort, privacy, and personal expression
