This three-room apartment is located in a recent building within a densely built urban area. The space benefits from a balanced layout and generous windows, especially in the day zone. The interior design project began with the intention of reconfiguring the apartment for its new inhabitants, while preserving some of the original elements that were still in good condition.
The aesthetic approach is defined by a vibrant color palette, contrasting accents, and a juxtaposition of contemporary design pieces with textures inspired by Nordic interiors. The overall atmosphere is lively yet serene, with each room expressing its own identity while remaining coherent with the whole.
The original wood flooring was restored, the joinery preserved, and the bathrooms reconfigured with minimal interventions: new furniture and sanitary objects were introduced, while microcement was applied over existing finishes to achieve a unified look. This neutral background is contrasted with colorful ceramic surfaces—both large-format slabs and decorative tiles—highlighted by integrated architectural lighting.
The day area is an open space that includes the kitchen, dining, and living room. The kitchen, arranged in an L-shape, stands out through its green-painted MDF cabinetry and “verdemare” tiles used for the backsplash. The solid wood dining table, crafted by an artisan manufacturer, is accompanied by a custom storage bench.
In the living room, a large wall unit incorporates open shelving, closed cabinets, drawers, and the TV, designed to meet storage needs without overwhelming the space. The colorful sofa acts as a focal point, while the handcrafted coffee table introduces a playful, organic contrast to the room’s rectangular geometry.
One of the bedrooms has been transformed into a home office for two people, featuring multiple lighting sources and bespoke furniture to accommodate various activities in a personalized and comfortable setting. The master bedroom continues the project’s aesthetic line—neutral tones and warm wood—while introducing a new chromatic accent: a deep navy blue headboard. Adjustable disc wall lamps and a vibrant mural reminiscent of an oil painting enrich the space with depth and personality.
The project is a balanced exercise in functional clarity and decorative freedom, bridging the memory of the place with the contemporary needs of urban living.
