Authors’ Comment

Located in the northern part of Bucharest, this apartment is an exercise in balance between functionality and material poetry. The project explores a discreet aesthetic inspired by the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, where imperfection becomes a mark of authenticity, and the naturality of materials is distilled into every detail.
Interior volumetry is treated gently, with hard lines replaced by organic shapes, generous arches, and sculptural insertions that seem carved into the mass of the walls. These architectural gestures define the space without fragmenting it, creating a fluid continuity between functional areas. The furniture is reduced to the essentials and discreetly integrated, in a process of dematerialization that emphasizes spatial quality rather than the accumulation of objects.
Textures act as narrative elements. Mineral finishes, seemingly untreated wood, and raw textiles create a calm, timeless atmosphere. Light is filtered through indirect sources that highlight surfaces without overwhelming the perception. The color palette is subdued, with neutral tones allowing materials to speak naturally.
The project avoids declarative gestures and relies on a quiet aesthetic. Every space is designed to support presence and serenity. The interior architecture does not impose but rather accompanies, sustains, and protects. Functionality is carefully calibrated, with compact and integrated solutions that make no compromises in comfort.
