This project posed both an architectural and conceptual challenge, rooted in a common reality on the real estate market: a property located in a less central area of Bucharest, intended for short-term rental in a hotel-like regime. The main objective was to transform this modest space into an apartment with personality - capable of attracting and retaining tourists through memorable design and efficient organization - all while staying within a reasonable budget set by the client.
With a surface area of only 23 square meters, every square meter was treated with the utmost functional responsibility. The goal was to integrate all essential zones for a comfortable stay: a sleeping/living area with dining space, a fully equipped kitchen, an ergonomic bathroom, and discreet storage solutions.
I opted for a balanced visual language, with design accents that catch the eye without overwhelming. The furniture was carefully selected from both mass-market stores and custom-made pieces, ensuring a perfect fit with the space. The interplay of matte and glossy surfaces, neutral tones, and bold color accents helped create a warm yet modern atmosphere - inviting, yet full of character.
Lighting played a key role in shaping the ambiance. I used a mix of functional and decorative lighting to define different zones and highlight architectural details. All lighting fixtures were chosen with care, combining efficiency with compact, elegant design.
Although the peripheral location might be perceived as a disadvantage, I approached it as an opportunity to create a space that compensates for the lack of central positioning through quality and aesthetic coherence. A guest who chooses this apartment should feel they’ve made an inspired decision - not just a rational one, but also an emotional one.
Design here was not just about decoration - it became a strategic tool for maximizing the property’s value. I succeeded in crafting a space with a high level of adaptability, comfort, and visual impact — all within an accessible budget, tailored to a property owner seeking strong rental performance without sacrificing quality.
This project reflects my belief that architecture and interior design can profoundly transform the perception of a space - they can unlock value where there was only potential, and they can spark emotion even in a small apartment located outside the city center. It stands as a statement about the power of intelligent design to democratize beauty and comfort - for the benefit of the client, the end user, and ultimately, the city itself.
