Authors’ Comment

„House of Movement” is a project for a ballet school and a performing arts center, holding together all the facilities that are lacking from the current building of the dance school. Located within a distance of five minutes of walking from the current ballet highschool „Floria Capsali”, the new intervention on Justiției street brings under one roof space for dynamic classes, regular classrooms, common areas for students and teachers, and a performance area that invites the parents to the semestrial school show. Having the site bordered by two streets with a different urban character generates the idea of the common ground floor, acting as a connection between the two boundaries and between the different types of users: students, teachers, and parents coming to see the children’s show. The idea for the „House of Movement” implies the constant presence of the moving silhouettes, visible from anywhere on the site, and from the street as well. The translucent finish of the façade reveals the activity that is happening behind the shell, without showing too much of the dancing contours character.
