The project started with a key word: HOLIDAY. The apartment, found in the very heart of Bucharest, brings its inhabitants into the atmosphere of a seaside retreat, through delicate blue accents, brights nuances and an interplay of textures, reflections and light. The wish of our clients was to be able to experience the relaxed atmosphere of a seaside holiday, at the end of every work day.

The Livingroom. The joy of reading inside the “outside” library
The ceramic accents on the floor, inspired by the Iberic blue tiles, emphasize key areas of the living space, like the entrance of the dining area. The circular lighting fixture doubles the ceramic circle on the floor, and together they define the dinning space without physically separating it from the rest of the room. The sofa appears gently in front of a delicate blue background. The organically shaped wooden chair becomes a distinctive element of the room, bringing the atmosphere of a sea-side holiday in the middle of the gloomy urban landscape. The wooden rifling with luminous insertions ensures a harmonious transition between the living room and the other spaces of the apartment. The bookshelf divides the space and blurs the boundaries of the room, generating a labyrinthic space, through the alternation of transparency and opacity.

The kitchen. A late autumn afternoon at the edge of the ocean.
The kitchen conveys the atmosphere of a sea-side bar, under the open sky. The doors of the overhead cupboards, covered in mirrors, create the illusion of an infinite sky, completed by the delicate light play of the spotlights. The cooking area (oven and hob) is placed in a monumental position, at the head of the perspective, a position also accentuated by the linear elements on the ceiling. The lack of overhead cabinets and the accents given by the LED strips placed on either side of the central piece also contribute to the monumentality of this key area, which becomes a modern reinvention of the hearth of the house.

The guests’ bathroom. The unexpected butler.
At the entrance, the guest is greeted by a surprising element, emerging harmoniously on the stone-like background of the tiles. The ceramic pieces chosen for the bathroom give it the aspect of a cave, where the sanitary objects appear like old, hidden statues. The restricted space of the room is expanded by the perimetral mirrors.

The master bedroom. The sea-side cottage.
The master bedroom is a space with an ambiguous geometry, repeating the play of transparency and reflections of the living room. The delicate shades of pink and blue convey a soft atmosphere of comfort, safety and silence. The bed, as a central element, is surrounded by a magical, dream-like ambiance, through the use of mirrors, the juxtaposition of linear elements and the golden lights that seem to go on forever. The bathroom offers a romantic atmosphere through shades of pink and burgundy, and the simplicity and elegance of the sanitary objects softens the roughness of the concrete floor.

The kids’ bedrooms. A playful science museum.
The children’s bedrooms stand out through their elements of science-fiction, with bold colours and shapes that convey playfulness. The bringing together of colours like orange-anthracite grey and blue-white generates an atmosphere that’s full of energy, completed by the graphic wallpaper that contributes to the dynamism of the rooms. The custom furniture, with reflective insertions, gives the room a special sense of depth, beyond its immediate perception. The kids’ bathroom continues the play of bold colours. The bathtub and the shower appear like two yellow monolithic elements, that stand out near the neutral tones used in the other parts of the room.
