Nomad apartment is a three-room residence in a new building located in a central area of Bucharest. The concept revolves around utilizing natural materials, especially wood, which brings a sense of well-being and tranquility through its warmth and materiality. The color palette is neutral, featuring earthy tones, but is not devoid of contrasts. Elements of Japanese and Scandinavian inspiration blend harmoniously into a contemporary language. The presence of organic and irregular forms softens the straight angles and industrial elements.
The intervention began with the demolition of a partition between two rooms, aiming to create a generous open space for the living area: the living room, dining area, and kitchen. This way, we benefit from a nearly 9-meter wall with windows that floods the space with natural light and amplifies the panoramic view of the neighborhood that the apartment offers.
To avoid obstructing too much light and to remain in line with the thematic spirit of the arrangement, we chose linen curtains, a texture that complements the palette of natural materials. The dining area consists of distinctive furniture elements that draw you in and invite you to be part of a scenographic experience. Among these, the dining table stands out as a sculptural presence. The bookcase impresses with meticulous attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship.
The parquet floors have been preserved as they are and completed with the same type of finish in areas where the carpeting was removed, to maintain continuity. The natural marble cladding in the bathrooms was also preserved; however, we made interventions on the walls and ceilings with accent finishes: wallpaper for wet areas and paint.
The bedroom is a minimalist, intimate space where we used reinterpreted Japanese-inspired elements, such as the solid wood bed positioned lower than we are accustomed to, giving the impression of floating; wall frames reminiscent of the geometry of Shoji screens. The kitchen is a well-partitioned space designed to optimize storage, which is important for a cooking enthusiast.
