The apartment from the 1960s underwent a complete renovation filled with challenges and unforeseen elements. The project began with a total strip-out, including the dismantling of stoves and sealing the chimneys. Both the electrical and plumbing systems were redone, with plumbing proving particularly difficult. During the strip-out, we discovered that the water supply entered directly into our apartment and branched off to serve the adjacent unit and the two above.
To prevent future issues, we coordinated with the neighbors upstairs and replaced their plumbing. We opted for underfloor heating and a curved shower, with finishes featuring marble mosaic tiling that adds an elegant touch to the space. We eliminated most of the interior doors, keeping only the bathroom and bedroom doors; the bathroom door is a pocket door, saving space and enhancing functionality.
