Seine Champagne Bar

Paris, Franta

Authors’ Comment

Located in the heart of Paris right on the waterfront, on the noble neighboring of the Louvre museum the champagne bar attempts to create a new cultural icon for the city, a place to celebrate the magnificent urban landscape. Instead of taking a boat-like position, so common along the various restaurants and bars on the Seine riverfront, this bar chooses to create a new relation with the waterfront. The building is naturally growing from the site, allowing existing nature and pedestrian circulations to remain unaltered by its presence, while creating new vantage points for enjoying the surrounding views. Both water and bank are looked upon from above whilst nature and buildings are framed in a conscious way to provide the visitor with a feeling of belonging to the city.
