Gentle Shadows

Authors’ Comment

The filtered light, warm wood tones and the soft hues of stone and upholstery define the atmosphere of the project Gentle Shadows. The interior takes shape through a palette of white, beige and grey, with variations in texture and material giving depth to the space. Thus, shadows become a subtle presence, tracing surfaces and highlighting the rhythm of the vertical elements.
The living room, kitchen and dining area come together in a unified, open-plan space. A curved sofa and a warm-toned armchair form a setting for relaxation. Their texture contrasts with the slender black lines of the coffee table, while vertical slatted panelling introduces a different rhythm in the background.
The same slatted detailing extends into the kitchen, tying the spaces together. Light-coloured surfaces with subtle mineral patterns brighten the composition. The dining table adjoins the island at a lower level, connecting the food preparation and dining areas.
The staircase, already in place when the interior project began and part of the architecture of the Amber Forest development, contributes to the design through its expressive materials and structural clarity. Open wooden treads and a transparent railing preserve a fluidity towards the living room. Alongside them, exposed concrete introduces a rougher texture, balanced by the warmth of the flooring and the soft tones of the textiles.
In the bedrooms, the same palette takes on a more intimate character. Upholstered headboards, wood and white surfaces create a calm setting, with linear lighting subtly accentuating the walls. The exposed concrete ceiling adds tactile variety, while mirrors with rounded outlines continue the vocabulary of the curved forms. The bathroom maintains this colour continuity through light grey finishes, a slender countertop and white sanitaryware.
Natural light connects these spaces and changes their character throughout the day, creating an interplay of surfaces, rhythms and transparency. Sheer curtains diffuse it, while blinds turn it into bands that stretch across walls and fabrics.
